About Us

introduction

The Cooperative Association of Palm Growers in Jericho and the Jordan Valley was established in 1999 by a pioneering group working in the palm sector and date production under the concepts of establishing the presence of the Palestinian farmer on his land and investing in the cultivation of Medjool dates or (Majdool, Majoul), as this sector extends over areas of approximately 30 thousand dunums until 2022 in the Jericho and the Jordan Valley area, the areas most suitable for the production of this type of crops. The Cooperative Association of Palm Growers in Jericho and the Jordan Valley represents the largest sector of productive farmers and packing houses and signatories, and seeks to empower its main resources and economic aspects with the aim of representing farmers in institutions with specialization related to date cultivation and production, and to play a major role in making decisions, policies and procedures taken regarding all aspects of date production in its final form to be ready for marketing operations locally and internationally. In our opinion, the Palestinian government must provide effective assistance in empowering the association with all relevant parties, specifically the Ministry of Economy and the Jericho and Jordan Valley Governorate, as the palm sector, according to studies, is the most profitable and organized in Palestinian agricultural exports. The palm sector is considered one of the largest agricultural sectors, as the number of palm trees reaches 350 thousand palm trees, with an investment value of more than 500 million US dollars. The agricultural area of palm trees is approximately 30 thousand dunums planted in the Jericho and Jordan Valley area. This area is considered one of the sensitive areas by the Israeli occupation because it is a border and military area and the food basket of Palestine.
